Hi folks. Recently got my Basic + Honours my ham ticket and am now qualified to operate in HF as well as VHF-UHF. Ideally, I'd like an HF + VHF/UHF transceiver capable of being used as a mobile and base station but am leaning towards an HF dedicated unit as I have a keen interest in DX'ing. I'd get an affordable VHF/UHF handheld for repeater use and maybe monitoring active logging roads. What brand/model rigs are other Vanagon-Westfalia ham operators using as a mobile in their Vanagon and why? Or, what specific features do hams look for in a mobile transceiver that would make it a good match or "fit" for the Westfalia? This Yeasu FT-450D https://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/hamhf/0450.html looks like it might be a good fit. Thanks Neil.
