At first I was thinking of something like adhesive copper foil...from McMaster-Carr.  But the more and more I looked into it, and recognizing the 30+ years age on that troublesome Blue Foil, the rock-solid improvement offered by GoWesty would be something to strongly consider.  Yes...it's $250...and probably several hours of work.  But they offer a great video on how to do it, doesn't look bad at all, and you will be confident for the next 30 years.  Their design looks robust and well conceived.

For me, I use my van for extensive long distance cross country roadtrips.  Reliability is EVERYTHING to me. So as GoWesty often says....Cry once, Do it right, and then forget about it forever.  Having said that, no I haven't replaced mine in my '85.  But maybe I will. Rich
