According to the owner's manual for my 1991 Volkswagen Vanagon GL Campmobile, the ignition key fits all doors and the gas cap. It does, too. The only key that differs is the latch for the glove compartment. Of course, if locks had been changed, that would not be true, but the vehicle was evidently manufactured that way. But, I don't mean to be disputing an expert, just stating what works for my vehicle, and what the owner's book states.
