David,

Steve is talking about the inside parts of each lock. Sure the original configuration was all the locks, except the glove box and single-seat rear pedestals, could be opened by the same key. However, that does not mean the insides of the locks are interchangeable. That is what Steve is referring to.

The lock cylinders themselves are shaped to the type of lock. Steve is saying it’s possible that even the smaller parts (lock pins or wafers) may also differ.
