Long time subscriber, maybe first time posting? (I think?) I have and love an '82 d-westy which is sporting the 1.6na. It is indeed slow (top speed of 60 or so, on flat ground), and 0-60 is measured in minutes, not seconds. That said, I use it exclusively for driving backroads for the purpose of finding nice out of the way places to camp. When that's my goal, I don't have the need to get anywhere quickly. I also live in the midwest, so I don't have altitude to worry about. The engine by far the simplest engine I've ever worked on, which makes keeping it on the road myself something I can do without it being my only hobby. These vehicles are certainly not for everyone (don't get one if you live at 5k feet!), but they have their place. Back to lurking!
