No photos given of the engine compartment so I'd be wary until you have some of those to share here.

The engine was rated at 48 hp when new. The tranny gearing was set up low to reflect this so 60 mph and a long time to get there. If it is to be driven much on Interstates then I'd say no. Even though he isn't in a hurry other people are and chaos can ensue.

Since it is a passenger van it can more practical to drive if kept lightly loaded than a camper would be. It does look pretty clean on the outside and yellow is a safer color than some for a slow vehicle.

Diesel vanagon owners can be frugal to a fault so make sure the engine stuff is really ALL there and correct. Share some photos here for advice in that regard.
