My son sold his 1976 Beetle, a car that was his first and daily driver for the last five years. Tonight he is getting on a plane in Atlanta and flying to Portland to pick up his next vehicle, a 1984 Vanagon. He is, in essence, coming full circle since I bought my first Vanagon Westfalia when he was just 2 years old. He practically grew up in one. He will drive from Portland all the way back to Atlanta via various scenic routes covering about 3000 miles in the process. Iām glad for him, as not many get the chance to see what he will see and experience what he will experience. Fingers crossed, AAA membership updated, operators standing by.
