Julian, my son and buyer of Don’s Vanagon, made it down the coast and is now in New Mexico.  Trip is going well.  He’s reporting 23-ish MPG.  He only only got pulled over twice for his “TAG PENDING” tag instead of a real license plate.  No tickets after he explained the purchase and showed documents.

So now I want to ship my Westy to the West Coast and do the same trip with my wife.  :-)
