Yep when they no longer make enough money to service debt and support operations, a company and its valuables are sold off. The name, or brand, is treated like any old machine on the floor or the building itself. Nobody asked any questions if you step up with the money. It may not have been the intent of anyone to sell it, but if it has a value, it becomes part of the fire sale automatically.
