BenT and David Beierl took over as List Moderators when Jim Arnott decide to work in the background as Admin. The job of Admin on the List is vastly different than that in Facebook groups. When Tom Carrington transferred control of the list, he never activated access request for moderators to have access to the Listserv. That’s why it was necessary for Jim to remain as admin to perform those sort of functions.

Over the years, we (actually mostly I as David has taken a hiatus) reduced the amount of moderation on the List with the exception of political and religious commentary. Traffic was low enough on the List that allowing some tangential discussions couldn’t hurt, IMHO.
