All, I was a new 1991 Volkswagen Vanagon GL Campmobile owner in 2008. Well, I was new, the camper was 17-18 years old. I still have it. Both of us are considerably older. My wife Bonnie and I have since acquiring the camper, camped in it in every state except Alaska, Florida, and Hawaii. I asked a lot of questions, and posed a few comments regarding Vanagons. Both my questions and my comments irritated some long time Vanagon fanatics, but most list members were considerate and helpful. The list has saved my a__ on multiple occasions.

I don't participate in Facebook, for practical, intellectual, AND ETHICAL reasons. You can figure those out if you want to. It sounds like some of those who have commented in this thread, including at least one list administrator, are giving the list its final rites. I hope that is not true. It has been and is the one best place to get (and give, though my personal expertise is still woefully lacking) help, sometimes the only place. Certainly, reliable shops are scarce, and VW dealers are absolutely useless. The camaraderie of the list has also been wonderful.

I check for list posts every day, and I have occasionally been known to post something (always legitimate though) just to perk up the list.

Don't let it fade away.
