With some of the same doubts you have, I installed the $28 one last fall:

So far, so good, but it's the passenger side so doesn't get as much use.


One issue on installation:  there was a stamped depression in the
sheet metal that the original didn't have.  This resulted in the door
sheet metal bending into it when the upper mounting screw was
tightened.  I don't know why they did this. I pulled it back out and
reinstalled with a washer or two in there to fill the gap, and was
then able to properly tighten it without bending anything.
