Initial thought.. the stuff I used in the Xmas gift to my wife

:-)

Merc 190, 86. Yup, went there.

The hood insulation was trashed so I bought some of the foil backed , self adhesive foam insulation and applied that. Sticky as you know what to a bed sheet, you don’t have second chance.

So the one I've got now is kinda crusty. Drops fragments of crusty foam onto my engine. I'd like to fix/improve. One idea I have is to use the acrylic deck coating (from Home Depot) I used to rejuvenate my upstairs deck in my condo; it's "rubbery"....i.e. flexible...and surely can withstand heat. The stuff I have is tan in color; I guess that's OK....black would be better (I could use the brush-on tan acrylic deck coating, and then add a rattle can coating of flat black spray paint). Mostly, I want something that will hold the foam together and stop the debris from falling down on my motor. Ideas? > Rich > San Diego
