Hi,

Right off the bat, I’d check the cable at the hub, pass side. See if the square  end of cable has lost its little c clip, and it’s not in the square hole on hub grease cap.

Second, reach behind the speedo unit, dash cover and plastic shield off, and make sure that end of the cable is secure in the speedo.

Those are the two easiest checks, and hopefully solutions :-)

Really glad I got suspension upgrades (including new spring perches) from Dennis Haynes before trip, the old suspension would never have made it.  Problem now is a shaky speedo needle.  Any easy checks to see if it is one of the cables or the speedo?  I brought tools, lube spray and spare bits, but no electric drill.  Any thoughts would be helpful.  Couple more days and then no internet again, so probably not able to tell you how it went till much later.
