Yes, I have had people call me and ask where they can get the "German"
windshields because someone on thesamba had wrote that the PPG ones
"weren't any good" and that you need to insist on getting a "German" one.
The dumb part is that they are the only ones available, and they are fine.
I have had probably 20 installed here over the years for customers and no
problems with any of them. The guy insisted that he was going to find a
"German" windshield and if I didn't know where to get one, I didn't know
what I was talking about, etc.
Ah, the joys of the internet "know-it-alls". I mean I don't know
everything, and I learn new things all the time. But I also have been
doing this for over 20 years. I hate when someone calls for advice and
then proceeds to act like the expert when all of their knowledge comes from
a thread on thesamba.
