Hello Eric. This happened to me numerous times before and after I had put a Boston Bob 1.9L in my van to replace the engine in it when I bought it in 1997. Said problems would often happen in the mornings when I would drive a few blocks, come to the stop sign at main road, and then accelerate. Not much sometimes. Only thing I could tie it too was the O2 sensor was making the mixture too rich until the engine was fully warm. Dirt on the connector between the FI cable and the FI microprocessor will also cause that along with a bad connection between AFM and FI cable. John

It just sort of idles and stumbles a bit. Then I here a couple of small backfire sounds. Then after a bit the van finds its legs and starts running again. We basically kept the foot on the gas during this time. Scarey as traffic is coming at us. > > I’m going to change the fuel filters but not rally sure what else to try. > > Fuel is non Ethanol high grade and I already ran sea foam this spring and even a bit of stable blue, in the fuel. > > Tips and suggestions wanted! > > Eric Caron > 85 GL Auto
