Hey Gab

That Wire sounds Quite familiar ~ Color wise I don't remember for sure But do know that

My 90Westy Does have an Odd Unconnected Wire in the FuseBox Steering Column Area ~

As for the Rad'Fan ThermoSwitch > It is in the Lower DriverSide Corner of the Radiator

& can be accessed by removing the Lower Grill ~ You should see a Hole in the Rad' Baffle with

Wires for the Connector protruding out & Bending back in ~ This connector is usually very snug

but can be simply pulled off (no release mechanism) with some force ~ The fan Motor & Speeds

can be tested by Jumpering the Ports in the Connector ~ To Test the Switch itself, You'll need to

Heat it up so to Its Operating Temps which can only be accurately accomplished by removing it

from the Rad' which unfortunately will allow the Coolant in the Rad to Drain Out ~ Otherwise

with T"Switch mounted in Rad', the Low Speed Fan Op' can usually be achieved by allowing the

Eng' to Idle for sufficient time to get it to full Operating Temp of about 197-198F ~ To get the

High Speed to Kick In You'll most likely need to Push the Van Pretty Hard Up a Very Long High

Mountain Pass with a Significant Load onboard ~
