Subject: Shift linkage repair
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

1984 GL 1.9 l petrol motor 4 speed manual transmission

The plastic ball in the shift linkage that mates with the lever on the shaft that goes into the gearbox has disintegrated. So I need to replace that ball and the protective boot. Is there any adjustment going to be necessary as part of this procedure? Also, what is the easiest way to access the joint in question so the ball can be replaced? Is it just a matter of removing the nuts and bolts that fasten the rear shift rid bushing so that the assembly can drop down?

Thanks for any advice?

Mike Lehigh Valley
