I haven't found any shop here in Atlanta that appears to have any particular expertise on Vanagons. One reason why I do my own work. If I had to have someone work on mine, I would contact German Master Tech ( https://www.germanmastertech.com/services/car-repair/). The only work they've done for me was replace the ball joints on steering knuckles I brought them (the way the ball joints are positioned make it impossible to get to them using a generic ball joint removal tool). When I went there I was surprised to see a Westfalia in their lot waiting for parts. Vanagons are pretty rare around here.

I have also talked to them about a problem with my Mercedes and they seem to be very knowledgeable. They are in Alpharetta, about an hour's drive north of downtown Atlanta.
