Only recently (last winter) I brought my 1998 Subaru Legacy into a DIY shop
in Montreal to do the brakes. I was very jazzed to pull it off (discs and
pads)
It’s a pretty easy job... most of you guys have probably done brakes.
It was a tense project - it’s a long drive out to the east end (La Prairie)
, I was concerned I’d be missing something (part or or special grease)
Garage 7 Jours: $10/hr. Canadian dollars. You get : an auto-lift and a
workbench.
The garagecrents tools.
It was very loud.
Next time I go back: ear protection.
And a small, wheeled cart - counter height.
(Otherwise, constantly bending down to pick up socket or breaker bar)
Im looking forward to going back in there! to reseal oil pan gasket and
transmission mounts on 98 Subaru .
My 82 vanagon/Subaru (Modesto) has 44 day’s to pass a Quebec inspection -
I’m importing it up from California. Nerve-wracking as the van needs a lot
fixed.
Horn doesn’t work
No Speedo
Windshield washer pump never worked
Wooden bumper
Water temp gauge is rigged on dash - wires showing
Heater valve is a Home Depot 1/4 brass valve - you have to crawl under
spare tire tray to operate.
Windshield defrost setting is difficult by controls (because retro -fitted
from air-cooled)
I have to push the flaps closed manually.
None of this stuff requires the lift. All in the cab!
