Speaking of Syncro tank, i would love an alum one. I think it would fix vapor recovery and leaks that can develop at the grommet where tank fill meets tank. I have experienced this. Plus piece of mind from a fire.

As someone owning Vanagons from the early years and having Fun Bus from new I can tell you that the coolant tank failure is not a new occurrence. I'm not one to travel with spares but I always had one of those under the back seat. In addition to the tank, the other value of this upgrade it the ability to inspect and even test the expansion cap and when needed replace it anywhere, and again be able to inspect it before installing. > > As for the fuel system expansion tanks, these have probably failed more often then is known. Even if they look good they get small cracks especially near the nipples and not longer hold. I would estimate that 1/2 the Vanagons out there do not have fully functional vapor recovery systems. As support of this, most engine conversions I have seen do not include a means to operate the vapor recovery-vent valve. Seal the system, don’t open the valve, or have a clogged carbon canister and the fuel pump has little trouble collapsing the fuel tank, especially the aftermarket ones. > > This tank upgrade is more stout than needed and some of the cost is likely due to the labor but it is a onetime investment also good for the environment for those that care. What we need next is an equally stout and reliable fuel tank replacement. One that can also have fuel inlet serviced like on the Syncro and a reliable seal for the fuel gauge sensor. > > I plan to order a set for my recently acquired 91. > > Dennis > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Vanagon Mailing List <vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com> On Behalf Of Roy Nicholl > Sent: Friday, August 23, 2019 11:48 PM > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > Subject: Re: Van Cafe/ RMW solves another problem--permanently > > Ben: > > Are these the same guys who make the soft fuel bladders? > >> On 23-Aug-2019, at 22:13, Ben T <syncro@GMAIL.COM> wrote: >> >> Desert Fox was has been making and selling stainless steel expansion tanks for several years.
