I like copper oil plug washers. Have used them on about every car I have ever owned—until my first Vanagon, a new 1990. Came with aluminum from the factory. Dealer supplied me with aluminum washers for a few years. Started buying parts for all my VWs at a local shop I still use. They spec aluminum. So, I was surprised by all this at first but never had a bit of problem with either material, copper or aluminum and doubt if I ever put a copper oil plug washer on a Vavagon come to think of it.
