I believe that Alistair Abell has data that show that putting a fan in the city water port does not improve performance of the Dometic. He frequents this list, so maybe he will speak up. Since there is a fan to remove hot air into the van interior from behind the refrigerator through a vent behind the box, perhaps when the additional fan is running, it just pulls air from the van interior through the normal vent and on out, without increasing the air flow from behind the refrigerator. Or worse, it might interfere with the air flow that would normally take place, leaving the hot air in place and not cooling the refrigerator or even preventing its cooling.

I did this for a refrigerator that was not performing, and could not tell any difference, but then my refrigerator (now junked) had other problems, like inadequate flame on propane due to a corroded internal propane line. So, YMMV.
