Ryan and others, I did this fan mod to my fridge many, many years ago and it has proven to be beneficial to operation of the fridge, especially in hot climate conditions, like while travelling in Mexico. At times I even removed the door so that the fan would run continually while driving as the door flap would not stay open with a stick. The principal behind this fan mod is that it removes the heat from the fins at the rear of the fridge and puts that heat outside, not back in the van as the original fan on the rear of the fridge was designed to do.
