I also have a dual battery charger, when plugged into shore power, it keeps both batteries fully charged and great for winter storage. Similar to this one. https://www.amazon.com/ProMariner-43008-Battery-Charger-Prosport/dp/B00F5EBQ36/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=dual+battery+charger+shore+power&qid=1569972547&sr=8-4

I placed it in my cabinet under the sink, plugged into the outlet in the cabinet, ran to both batteries, and my batteries keep full. Photo of install location. https://photos.app.goo.gl/wqYj3Uiwri7GqU99A Note the USB with voltage plug added, so I always know the voltage of my Aux Battery.

I added another USB with voltage plug up front too, where that German 12v plug was. That's hooked up to my main battery. https://photos.app.goo.gl/KHPRDLmjbsRwedL19

So nice to have confidence in your batteries and system monitoring!

Thanks again Jack. I just checked again online and the discounted price still stands, about $98.

This battery fits well in the Vanagon battery box since it has no handle mounts on the ends like many 41 batteries do. I loop a nylon strap under it to help lower and raise it, leaving the strap in place at all times.

The first 3 year free replacement and 8 year warranty is hard to beat.

I have a dual battery shore power charger which has kept my prior batteries alive for over 10 years. Felt it was time to change out, as preventative. When batteries start to die, it is hard on the alternator. And with a dual system, probably a good idea for less than $200. > > https://www.pepboys.com/bosch-premium-performance-battery-group-size-41/product/9073724/1984/VOLKSWAGEN/TYPE%20II%7EVANAGON/4-1900%20water%20cooled > > Note: these batteries do not have a handle, so you will need a battery strap that fits over the terminals to drop them into place. Also, there isn't a cover over the positive terminal, so took the one off the old battery. (lined up good enough). > > Jack R. 84 Westy. >
