Subject: Water pump cross over pipe
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8"

Hey vanagonauts

1.9 L Water pump started weeping going to try and tackle the job myself, first time doing it. Pretty solid YouTube video on the process. I ordered the cross over pipe too mine is rusty as heck.

First question foot lbs the video said hand tight or 18foot lbs for 13mm bolts? Is that correct? Video said to use a little silicone on either side of the gasket to hold it in place but just treating the gasket with antifreeze is all that’s required silicon technically isn’t necessary.

Do y’all paint the stainless for added rust proofing or just roll with it stainless?

Just double checking so I don’t screw the job up the first time and have to go back and do it again. Thanks as always for your perspectives on maintaining these beasts. Peace tom
