Subject: Vanagon parked on driveway gets violation from city.
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8

This Vanagon which I've owned for 25 years has been parked on my driveway for a long time.It failed the Arizona emissions test several years ago and so could not be re-registered.The repair shop I took it to failed to get it in passing condition and it failed the test two more times. It was roadworthy and in good driving condition at the time.I bought several new parts (AFM, catalytic converter, muffler, oxygen sensor) for it but never got around to installing them all.Eventually the battery died and despite buying a new one, it would not start. Yesterday I got a violation notice from the city saying I cannot have an 'inoperable or unregistered vehicle' parked on my driveway. I have just 2 weeks to either register the vehicle or dispose of it.Anyone got any thoughts on what I should do? The van does have sentimental value to me as it's the vehicle I had when my kids were little and it's the vehicle I drove from New York to Arizona when I moved here.Anyone know any good repair shops in the Phoenix/Tempe area who you would trust to take on such a project? If I do have to junk it, what parts should I remove?

Thanks,David, Tempe AZ (1987 Vanagon Wolfsburg)
