Thank you very much for your suggestion. Only bolts the correct size (and then in 1.25 thread) available locally were at my neighborhood ACE. I tried one, and found that the threads in the door pillar are stripped. I found one article on the web that described putting a nut on the bolt by taking off door panel and putting the nut on the bolt and then tighten it.
