Thanks chris.

I was wondering about the compression stiffness of the b6 and you’ve answered that.

Mark Garnick installed a set of the 16" version along with a set of standard height Schwenk springs. His Syncro is a stock Westy and is pretty close to stock with a set of aftermarket Mercedes wheels with BFG KO2s (if I remember correctly - close to 55-60 lbs worth of wheel and tire). He doesn't carry around a bunch of extra weight. He reports that they 16" version is pretty stiff, but controlled feeling. While everyone likes something different when it comes to ride quality/performance, I have the impression that the B6 14" version would have been better suited to his needs. > > Personally, I like the B4s with stock spring rates. I like how soft they are. I don’t care about body lean when on the road. I do run a 25mm anti-roll bar which helps a lot, but doesn't interfere with off-roading capabilities. Just my personal preference. > > Christopher > > -----Original Message----- > From: Vanagon Mailing List <vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com> On Behalf Of Alistair Bell > Sent: Tuesday, February 11, 2020 7:53 PM > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > Subject: Bilstein shock query > > Hi, > > I’ve scoured the Samba posts about subject, but I’m wondering if anyone here on list has installed the 16” Syncro version of the bilstein b6 shocks front and back. > > I’m going to buy new shocks, and you know I have Syncro westy ( westy conversion) and do a fair bit of fought logging road travel. I’m not entirely fixed on the billies, all stinking of the obvious old man emus, and maybe rancho or fox remote reservoir shocks. Although I don’t think I need the remote reservoir for what I do. > > I hope any bilstein b6 owners will pipe up. > > Alistair >
