Subject: Bosch Spark Plugs
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8"

I replaced the spark plugs on my 1985 1.9 liter, torquing them to 14 ft-lb. After that I drove around town a few miles to make sure everything was OK, but then we left on a trip and drove 120 miles, then stopped for a while. I drove off again but the engine would not idle, dying at each stop light. After it warmed up, it idled OK, but seemed to have significantly less power going up hills. There was also a slight shudder through the accelerator and shifter. We called the trip off and drove back home. Somewhere along the way it seemed to do a lot better, maybe even curing itself. If the spark plugs have anything at all to do with what happened, I can only think of two reasons. The plugs I installed are Bosch WR7CC. The ones I took out were Bosch WR7DC. Are the "CC" plugs different than the "DC" plugs? I also oiled the distributor shaft with 20-50 oil. It didn't sink in very well. I took off the distributor shaft and the base was pretty oily. The cap and rotor were clean, though. Could this have caused the problem?
