I was in the market for something like this, but was always disappointed by lack of feature X (HD Radio) or Y (MKV support), then realized my existing Alpine HU covered feature X and my Pixel XL could handle feature Y and was already great with navigation.

That said, I'm glad to hear someone actually got one of these wired up, validating my early idea.
