Eric, David here, not Dan. No problem with the window. The space is
enclosed, not open to the regulator space. It was, in some iteration of VW
vehicles, a duct for air flow to the rear, but doesn't serve that function
in my camper. I am not the only person ever on the list to mention using
the space, but for the life of me, I cannot remember who else brought it up.
The space behind the upper bunk: On my camper, when the rear hatch opens,
there is a shelf above the opening. That is the space behind the upper
bunk that I spoke of. It really appears to be a shelf just made for
storage, but the AC .... .
Bonnie and I don't use the upper bunk, and at one time I removed the bed
and stored bedding and such up there. However, even with bedding, pillows
and so on, the shelf rattled tremendously without the bed in place, so I
put it back. I do put my homemade canopy up there with the bunk, and no
rattles from that (in a bag). I'm sure many others do this, but when
camped with the top up we store items up there and they are easily to hand
when needed. Duffles, for example.
