Mucho thanks, Alistair for helping posting pics while dealing with you own issues. My immediate and first impression....is that nothing is BROKEN. My speculation is that things jiggled loose....Slider went all wonky...stuff came out of their channels, and the door landed with a thud. Tough to see from photos, though, if anything is bent. But given the nature and metallurgy of those strong brackets---they do not bend, they either hold or break. Time for the experts to chime in. My opinion: definitely fixable, with no new parts needed. Hoping. On Monday, March 30, 2020, 4:14:10 PM PDT, Alistair Bell <albell@shaw.ca> wrote: Pics here https://shufti.blog/2020/03/30/vanagon-erins-door/

It’s raining like crazy up here in the NorthWet right now. Yes it was difficult doing this alone. That door is pretty heavy and about impossible to maneuver alone. Since it’s so crappy outside today I’m going to spend the day researching what I can do to fix this and then enlist someone to help out tomorrow. I’m so glad that I was parked in the driveway and not at the grocery store where I had just come from when this happened. I’ve been full time in the van for the past 5-6 years now but just two months ago I decided to rent a room in Eugene. I’m so glad I’m not full time on the road right now! It would really suck to have door falling off not to mention the global pandemic that’s going on! Yikes! I was missing traveling but since this virus hit I’m so thankful to be situated in Eugene right now! > > > > > > > > |
