I would tend to call it intermittent connection problem syndrome.

No, they extended the tech bulletin to all WBX. And indeed, I experienced it whilst driving the '84 Westy in Scotland in '91, before it was mine. I also then experienced the 3-4 slider crack, and Won't Crank When Hot. It had around 85k miles at the time (California spec, delivered in Germany on tourist program and lived in Scotland for 7 years.
