If Richard wants to put LEDs in that switch, if there's even room, I'd caution against using "flashlight" type LED bulbs; they're quite bright. e.g. I installed this type of bulb in my 1988 Vanagon high beam indicator position at dash (OE bulb is incandescant) image link: https://tinyurl.com/vcctm5f Even with a resistor in series to that bulb, I had to put a piece of tape over it to dim it down. (no, I'm not opening up the cluster again any time soon!). I'd bench tested the bulb with various resistors before install, to no avail apparently. Neil.
