Good news.

Weather up here iffy too, chilly with rain and sometimes hail. Oh wait, sun just came out :-)

I’ll reiterate what others say about a support to rest rear of door when installing. I use a milk crate. It’s a bit of a dance to get the front end of door swung in to lower and upper tracks. Have a good look at the set up before attempting. And note how the rear slider rollers fit in to track etc

But you’ve watched the vids...

Good luck

Alistair

I ordered the bearings bundle package from Go Westy via my local VW mechanic shop which is currently closed for the pandemic. Yesterday, thankfully it was not raining I rode my bike five miles each way to the shop. They had left the box on the wheel well of a VW van named Cosmos on the street in front of the closed shop front, so that felt kind of like a treasure hunt. > I’m hoping to install the bearings today but the rain is starting up and since I have zero tools here I’m waiting on someone who does have tools. So far I have two different people on the line who have the correct tools and are willing to help. Now it’s just a matter of dodging the rain and waiting on them to come through. If I had the tools I’d be staring on it right now on my own. Unfortunately I have to wait for someone else. I don’t mind standing in the rain personally, I’d like to get this done ASAP. I intend to do this today or tomorrow no matter what. Thanks again everyone for your help and input. > >> On Apr 4, 2020, at 10:58 AM, Alistair Bell <albell@shaw.ca> wrote: >> >> Erin, >> >> What’s the scoop, any progress with door? >> >> Alistair >> >>>> On Mar 30, 2020, at 2:28 PM, Erin Daniels <eirejammer@gmail.com> wrote:

It’s only held on by the one metal clamp on the bottom door handle side now. My mechanic is closed but he said I could still buy parts from them this week if I need. I’d like to fix this on my own anyway. So I’m going to do some research. Does anyone have any suggestions? >>> Thanks everyone. Hope you’re all holding up ok >>> Erin >>
