I replaced the European 12v plug on my dash with this.

Very easy, wires were right there... makes it easy to track the voltage, which by the way agrees with:

On my old 82 westy I ran a new cable.

And I have a good thick cable ready to go for the syncro . Why don’t I install it? 

Because I keep thinking the engine is coming out soon and I can get to the starter easily and do a good job.

Paralyzed by the notion of perfect over good :-)
