Our Vanagons, in any form, are incredibly tough, for vans, and especially in the front. Maybe because they have autobahns in Germany and don't want to lose any fellow Germans. I know from experience. That middle bumper hidden behind the sheet metal between the grills is really tough. I pray that none of us ends up in any collision, but if it's from the front, we have hope. I thought mine was a total until I drove it out of there (not far, but in a hurry as I was losing coolant) and next day sense prevailed.
