84 Wolfsburg edition GL westys and 85 GL westys all came with the floor tracks for the middle seat. you could either get the 2 person middle seat (same seat as in the passenger vans but with the herringbone camper fabric) or the single middle swivel capt. chair on metal lockbox base. the single middle swivel seat on lockbox base are getting hard to find, so this freebie one is a good deal. someone should snap it up.

85 seems to be the year that had the floor with the rails and covers to accept the additional seat. Shortly after I purchased Fun Bus I worked with the dealer to order all the parts needed to add the seat and floor parts as I needed to seat 5 at the time. VWoA caught on and stopped the order. Never got in writing but was told that seat wasn't crash tested. My guess is that being centered with the sliding door it was not a good place to be if t-boned on that side. I ended up with an American van seat set up that was used for many years. Now I have a rear facing set up like used on the later carats. I like that set up better as it leaves the space in the center of the van open and is very easy to folds up out of the way or remove.

Eric, so far as I know, no Volkswagen Vanagon GL Campmobile ("Westy," or "Full Camper" as many call it) came with a jump seat. There are no rails to accommodate one in mine, for sure, and the owner's manual doesn't mention it. There is a one passenger jump seat that came in some other versions that some folks fit to the Campmobile. I have one of those, and it works really well if you install it properly. However, I suspect it would not meet current safety laws even installed properly, though it does have a shoulder belt -- that attaches to the same mounts as the front passenger belt.
