Randy, I have been working on Vanagons for over 20 years and I would never mess with one of these. I have tried in the past as an emergency measure (someone traveling through needed a patch repair to get a little farther down the road). But if you have time on your hands and it isn't an emergency, I would get your old AFM rebuilt or replaced. I have a rebuilt one on the shelf at the moment. It is a actually a Bosch Rebuild, not the local rebuilder. They are impossible to come by right now, but I managed to get one recently. I would need your old one as a core so I can have it rebuilt for the next person. That is the big problem getting good cores back from people to keep these things going.
