Subject: Mono Tube vs Twin Tube Shocks (dampers)
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8"

Hi folks.

I appreciate that there's a lot of variables involved with this but....

For a 2wd Westfalia that is sometimes driven on rough bumpy or washboard type dirt roads, which type of oil + gas charged shock will likely last longer? Mono tube or twin tube?

My Sachs OE type shocks don't seem to hold up for very long given that I drive on bumpy dirt roads at times. I don't want to spend a lot of money and will sacrifice ride comfort for a shock that might last longer.

Given what I've read, it seems that a mono tube design shock is simpler in design, might shed heat better, and tends to be used on trucks so may last longer.

Thanks,

Neil.
