My Digijet pro manual shows Digijet as a "refined version" of AFC injection and Vanagon Bentley states "DIgifant is a development of the Digi-Jet fuel injection system...." My first thought was that maybe VW didn't anticipate a Vanagon as eventually having power steering and offering the option of AC. So, maybe the "add on" idle control systems were indeed an afterthought? i.e. why develop a totally new engine management system ECU or (if needed) adapt Digifant II to suit the needs of the Vanagon? Maybe "adding on" an idle control system to Vanagon Digifant was the most cost effective solution? If I'm not mistaken, Digifant II ECU: http://www.a2resource.com/electrical/management.html controls idle speed. And it appears to have been used during Vanagon production years. But this is just the musings of a tech wanna be. This is all way over my "pay scale". LOL. Neil.

Not sure if you were totally serious or being somewhat "tongue in > cheek". LOL. Maybe while "in there", replace the 2.1 throttle switch with > some 1.9 throttle switches? And yes, I'm joking around about that. LOL. >
