Thanks Dennis - when I get around to changing the oil I will closely inspect around the alternator and the mounting / adjustment bolts. I believe the belt is tight with minimal deflection with minimal bounce. Not sure whether the alternator - which has 9000 miles on it, is a rebuild or not - it is a Bosch if that means anything these days.
