This is a fun blog to take a deep dive into. http://ouropenroad.com/ The Harteaus, a young family of three, head to South America in their Subaru powered Westy and spend five adventurous years (with two engine rebuilds) on the road before the trip ends in disaster when the barge they took to cross the Amazon delta was captured by pirates. They escaped (two adults and their two young daughters, one born on the trip) in the middle of the night on a surfboard and survived. Unfortunately, they were not able to get their eventually recovered van out of Brazil ( but they did get their laptop with photos back), and are now living in Bali. Their story continues on their Instagram page for those that have an Instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/ouropenroad/?hl=en The story of their survival adventure in Brazil is there too. Adam Harteau is an artist and a great photographer, there are some spectacular photos here! (sorry about that, Eric, my friend).

For those not on Instagram just sign up for an account, you don't have to post anything and you can view other people's accounts. Some of you might even want to post some of your own adventures.

Enjoy, this is a great escapist read for these trying times!

Stuart
