Subject: Trailer wiring
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8"
Sorry to bother everyone on a Sunday. Trying to wire up my trailer cuz I’m
Moving next week. So I finally have to try and get this done. The dang
trailers been sitting in my garage for 4 years cuz I was pretty sure this
simple job would be a pain in the neck and it is.
I’m using the wiring harness from goWesty pretty generic wiring harness as
expected. I made my connections in the black junction box. I used mostly 16
to 14 gauge splice connectors the ones that snap closed and one 18 to 20
for the white ground to brown ground splice because the 16 wasn’t able to
penetrated the plastic sheath and contact the tin. I was hoping that was
the issue when I found it but nada. I spliced it to the skinny ground wire
where the white connector is could that be the issue? it’s where the two
ground wires connect to the one in the white connector. I quadruple checked
everything as far as wire to wire that’s all good. I’m guessing the splice
connectors aren’t working or am I missing something? Before I go using
regular butt connectors and cutting wires I figured I’d ask for words of
wisdom from the tribe. I was even thinking of getting the splice connectors
that have the little plug on the side maybe they work better I dunno? Any
words or wisdom from the tribe is greatly appreciated. Peace and happy
Father’s Day.
