Go with the cheap and easy replacement, $10 and less than 1 hour.

I did mine about 5 years ago, and it is holding up well.  No hot feet.

Hi all,
Summer heat combined with front heater valve not shutting off is causing the
blues here in CA.
Two questions:
1) Is there a quick and easy way to install a shutoff for the summer time?
2) Long term - what is the best way to remove and replace the heater valve
with one that works? And should I do any other maintenance at the same time?
