Yeah, warm in my opinion is the way to go. Gets whatever crap that has missed oil filter is now in suspension, oil viscosity is reasonable for draining, oil temp is not too high for burning hand yet alone those nearby exhaust manifolds.
Thanks for considering and comments. I will adjust my oil change regime. More pleasant and just as effective. I've kinda know this all along. Was just being OCD.

no reason to get hurt for an oil change. I just do it warm. With my oil cooler I’m pretty sure I can’t get it all out anyway. I get most of it out and refresh with new oil. I have the oil cooler up front with the radiator.
