Thanks for mentioning rim size, I left that out. I have 16" rims with 215/60 R16 Goodyear Assurance tires, which have been great road ties. I have no complaints about BFG. I am still searching for the best size for an all terrain like the grabber. I see GoWesty sells a 215-70 in their 2wd off road bundle, so I assume that fits without modification. ________________________________ From: Dan N <dn92610@gmail.com> Sent: Sunday, July 5, 2020 2:58 PM To: David Boan <dboan@outlook.com> Cc: Vanagon Mailing List <vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com> Subject: Re: tires

I have used both BFG and General Grabber... to me BFG have stiffer sidewall than General Grabber meaning General Grabber give smoother ride... if your rims are 14" you have to go with the General Grabber

It is time to think about a new set of tires for my 2wd '85 Westy. I am doing much more forest service road driving, so I am considering an all-terrain type tire, though not with as aggressive tread as some 4WD may use. I searched the list and saw recommendations for General Tire Grabber, and also watched a Youtube video that compared the Grabber with BFG and gave the edge to the Grabber tires. FYI, I do have a limited slip transaxle and do pretty well on loose dirt and gravel. I am not planning on using any roads that recommend 4wd.

So, I am looking to update the current tire recommendations since this information is a few years old. My question is does anyone on the list have experience with the General Grabber AT/X and is it still a recommended tire? Is there something comparable that I should consider?

Thanks

Dave B. Boise
