I've used my bench grinder to re-shape items, rather successfully!

VW came back and said the part is discontinued and not available. Guess I am back to the rubber gasket idea. I wonder if plumbers putty would work better? ________________________________ From: Dan N <dn92610@gmail.com> Sent: Wednesday, July 8, 2020 11:06 AM To: David Boan <dboan@outlook.com> Cc: Vanagon Mailing List <vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com> Subject: Re: washers

If they cannot then I think your idea is a good approach while I wait to see if Van Cafe gets them in stock. I tried using silicone but that was useless. ________________________________ From: Dan N <dn92610@gmail.com<mailto:dn92610@gmail.com>> Sent: Wednesday, July 8, 2020 10:48 AM To: David Boan <dboan@outlook.com<mailto:dboan@outlook.com>> Cc: Vanagon Mailing List <vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com<mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com>> Subject: Re: washers

those washers are fiber and break easily when you take them out. I made one with a piece of rubber from the bicycle inner tube. if you don't want to wait, cut a square piece of rubber, make a hole to fit, put it on and round it off with the tip of an X-acto knife.

When I took the vent window glass out on one side two of the pressure washers crumbled. The only supplier I have found is Van Cafe, and they are out of stock. Does anyone know of another source or an alternative to using the pressure washers?
