Hi Jim,

I ordered the little screen kit for this from GW when I had a different order it was like $2.00 for the pre cut screens and som Popsicle sticks and a tiny amount of of glue I had just done some other work and had some adhesive that seemed really strong and didn’t need mixing so I prepped the underside of the luggage rack and glued them in. I took the time to clean the roof and even put some wax down. Then reinstalled. Last I check they were still solidly in place and keeping out pine needles and such and letting water go away.

A lot of work just to glue them down but worth it.

I wished they just had some tiny screened plugs to install from the top!

Good luck and report back.

The “luggage rack” tends to fill with sticks and leaves which fill up the five scupper holes in the Fiberglas. When this happens the depression in the rack fills with rainwater which takes a day or so to drain out. Worse, the water and debris slops over the side and down the front windows when I make a turn. > > > > Every two years or so I remove the Fiberglas and pressure was the debris. I have always meant to install screens over (under, actually) the holes to at least keep the cavity underneath the Fiberglas clean and to make the rack easier to clean of debris with a hose. > > > > Yesterday I pulled the top and hot glued reinforced window screen over holes on the underside. Will let you know how it goes. > > > > Jim > > > > > >
